Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our mission is to offer patient assistance to individuals with rare and chronic medical conditions. Over the next five years, our goals include expanding our patient centered delivery model, increasing efficiencies for processing patient applications for assistance, becoming the champion for our patients by creating a robust patient coalition to advocate for access and affordability, and diversifying our funding streams in order to create new assistance programs and meet unmet patient needs.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Strategies for implementation are as follows:
1. Expand our patient centered delivery model by developing IT capabilities in order to provide a higher level of customer service, expanding operational services for insurance case management, and developing an improved patient communication plan.
2. Increase efficiencies for processing patients applications for assistance by expanding IT capabilities in order to provide a higher level of customer service.
3. Be the champion for our patients by creating a robust patient coalition, providing additional resources for access to care, expand on offerings to meet unmet patient needs, and increase our roles in advocacy.
4. Diversify funding streams by exploring new assistance programs, grow our foundation, seek community support, etc.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Accessia Health has an experienced Strategic Planning firm that will aid in the success of meeting our five year goals. Additionally, our Board of Directors and Staff have created an internal committee to ensure that our goals remain a top priority. A timeline for achievement of each goal has been set and will be monitored through completion.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
To date, Accessia Health's IT team has created a brand new database from the ground up in order to provide our patients with faster assistance. Additionally, robust reporting tools and secure online portals have been created to ensure that our patients and donors can quickly and easily access their Accessia Health accounts. We continue to build the patient coalition and currently have a few hundred members who assist Accessia Health in advocacy efforts. Over the next few years Accessia Health will work towards growing our foundation, increasing assistance programs available, increasing donations, and continue to increase IT efficiencies so that we may reduce our administrative fee and dedicate even more funds to patient assistance.

- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
