Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

HOM's vision is to develop self-sustaining communities that help people become the individuals that God intended them to be.

Our key strategies for developing self-sustaining Christian communities are to promote healthy bodies, minds, and spirits. First, we work to improve the health of the communities served by providing access to quality medical care and education about critical primary health issues. We believe that individuals cannot sustain themselves or their families if they are not physically well; access to routine and preventive care allows individuals to work to their highest potential. Second, we believe education is a fundamental basic right and the path to a better future. We operate three primary schools and a high school in addition to supporting a small vocational school so that young Haitians are equipped with the tools they need to be competitive in the workforce. Lastly, we share the good news of the Gospel through three churches; we believe nourishment of the soul goes hand in hand with the nourishment of body and mind.

Haiti Outreach Ministries works in partnership with the Mission Communautaire de l’Eglise Chretienne des Cites (MICECC), a Haitian organization composed of a dedicated group of pastors, church leaders, educators, and health workers who minister to the communities through our churches, school, and in the community. On the American side, HOM engages individuals and groups who have a desire to make a difference in Haiti through mission trips. Volunteers serve year-round to assist with construction projects, education initiatives, church leadership workshops, medical needs, and other special projects. Our capabilities for impact are enhanced by this approach of employing Haitian staff to provide the front-line service delivery with American volunteers providing supplemental support as needed.

HOM has made great progress in its 30+ years of operation. What began with one church and a small health ministry has grown to four campuses encompassing three churches, three primary schools, one secondary school, a large health clinic, four water treatment facilities, and vocational training. Annually, HOM and MICECC serve over 41,000 Haitians per year through this work. Looking forward, we are beginning efforts to develop economic opportunities on a future fifth campus. This vocational campus will serve as a hub for on-site training, small business incubation, and other business development activities. We seek to develop economic development opportunities on both the community level - nurturing entrepreneurship and business growth access to training, mentoring, loans/microloans, and other financial business services – as well as on the individual level, by preparing students coming out of our schools for meaningful employment through training in both life and technical skills.
