Get It Together High School Seat Belt Challenge

Local high schools compete to raise students' awareness of the importance of wearing seat belts every time they ride in a vehicle. School districts include public high schools in Accomack County, Chesapeake, Hampton, Isle of Wight County, Newport News, Norfolk, Northampton County, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg-James City County, and York County.

Old, Used, Borrowed, and Abused Child Safety Seat Round-up serves to educate parents and caregivers about the possible dangers of using car seats that are over eight years old, have been purchased from a thrift store or yard sale, have parts missing, or have no traceable recall information. For these reasons, people are urged to “round-up” their old safety seats throughout a specific month, typically February.

In 1991, Concerned Citizens Advocating Traffic Safety (CCATS) instituted the JOHN T. HANNA AWARDS. Named after Virginia’s “Father of Transportation Safety” these awards honor those who share John T.
