Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Innovative Instructional Grants
HEF is committed to the belief that best practices and innovation are essential to providing a world-class education. HEF rewards instructional grants that encourage and reward innovative approaches to the accomplishment of curriculum goals and objectives and/or the Standard of Learning objectives.
Community Learning Center (CLC)
Community Learning Center (CLC) is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Factors that impact students outside of school greatly impact the success of our students. The CLC provides Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) with an opportunity to respond to the challenges our students face both inside and outside of the classroom. In this approach, schools become centers of the community and are open to everyone – all day, every day, evenings and weekends. Using the public school as a hub, a CLC brings together many partners to offer a range of supports and opportunities to children, youth, families.
Equal Opportunity For All Initiative
Financial assistance for student field trips, credit recovery programs, night school and tuition reimbursement for students and families in need.
Early Learning Programs
-Henrico Mixed Delivery — Increases access to early learning for eligible Henrico Pre-K and 3-year old students at private childcare centers for those unable to attend HCPS programs due to limited space.
-Regional Mixed Delivery — Under HEF’s leadership, in partnership with Smart Beginnings, this regional initiative supports students in Richmond City, Chesterfield and Henrico for a 24-month program.
-Preschool Development Grant — Will strengthen kindergarten readiness by increasing the number of Henrico childcare centers that meet state requirements through upgrading curriculum and teacher training.
