Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1) By 2025, 15 million hectares of forest areas are effectively managed under indigenous and local community stewardship.
2) By 2025, at least 60 indigenous and local communities will have improved and ongoing access to prioritized needs, resources, and services.
3) By 2025, all of the ACT-guided networks have successfully promoted the rights of marginalized groups in grassroots, local, regional, and international decision-making processes.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1) Land Strategy: Conserving rainforests and ancestral territories.
2) Livelihood Strategy: Improving the physical well-being of communities.
3) Governance Strategy: Supporting the self-determination and living cultures of our partners.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
1) ACT is well-positioned to meet our "Land" goal as we have previously placed 9.9 million acres of land in Amazonia under improved sustainable management. Additionally, we have created and expanded over 2.3 million acres of indigenous reserve.
2) Over ACT's 26 years of operation, we have improved physical health, food sovereignty, basic community infrastructure, and economic security to ensure collective well-being and territorial permanence. Through our long-term partnerships with indigenous associations, government stakeholders, civil society partners, and the private sector, ACT is equipped to fulfill our "Livelihoods" goal by replicating and scaling our most successful methodologies.
3) ACT has a strong track record of advocating with local, regional, and national governments in Colombia to develop and implement policies which benefit indigenous citizens. Through these existing networks and connections, we have a strong foundation to further promote the rights of marginalized Amazonian groups in consequential decision-making processes.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
ACT will complete an interim evaluation of the organization's implementation of its most recent strategic plan in the beginning of 2024.
