The LCI model empowers the local church to reach its community for Christ through holistic tools targeted to wipeout malnourishment, improve educational opportunities and break cycles of generational poverty. We are currently partnered with 53 Phase 2 Local Church Initiatives preventing approximately 5,600 vulnerable children from becoming social orphans.

Why the Local Church?

Believing the local church, with Jesus in the center, is the Hope of the World and realizing we could prevent children from ever becoming “orphans,” we began our first feeding programs in the community of Nueva Vida in 2005. By feeding the children we are able to share the good news of Jesus Christ with them, and make it possible for families living in extreme poverty to stretch their resources a little further, thus keeping families intact.

Population(s) Served
Non-adult children
Economically disadvantaged people

ORPHANetwork’s After School Education Program (ASEP), operated in 43 Life-Changing Local Church Initiatives (LCIs), provides 2,000 children foundational educational skills to foster economic self-reliance

We partner with Life-Saving Local Church Initiatives serving 27,000 children; empowering the local church to reach it's community for Christ through these life saving holistic tools and Core Services:

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The mission of ORPHANetwork is to partner with the local church to break cycles of poverty amongst highly vulnerable children. Together, we join with Jesus Christ in His transformative work to: Build up healthy minds, bodies, and self-worth, create thriving Christ followers, and equip for self-sufficiency and sound judgment.

1. We work in partnership with the local church believing that, with Jesus in the center, the local church is the "Hope of the World."
2. We identify successful national leaders who share our values and mission and partner with them to transform lives.
3. We believe Nicaraguans must solve the problem of Nicaragua.

Through 320 local Nicaraguan church partners and more than 100 Nicaraguan staff, we deploy food, education and job skills to communities of abject poverty to transform children's lives. Our model is community based and many of our staff live within the communities we serve, providing an incredible opportunity to address barriers and foster change from within. We also build relationships and equip our local church partners to solve problems in their community through regular training and development.
