THE UNISON PRESERVATION SOCIETY WAS INCORPORATED IN 2001 TO HELP MAINTAIN THE HISTORIC CHARACTER OF UNISON AND ITS SURROUNDING AREA. THROUGH THE SOCIETY'S EFFORTS, THE VILLAGE WAS PLACED ON THE VIRGINIA LANDMARKS REGISTER AND THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES IN 2003. THE CORPORATION IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO EDUCATING THE PUBLIC, PROMOTING AN APPRECIATION OF HISTORY, AND OTHERWISE BENEFITTING THE PUBLIC BY PRESERVING, PROMOTING AND FOSTERING THE NATURAL CHARACTER AND THE HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL AND CULTURAL QUALITIES AND RESOURCES OF THE AREAS IN AND AROUND UNISON, VIRGINIA.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION EDUCATION AND CULTURAL APPRECIATION: ISSUES QUARTERLY NEWSLETTERS COVERING CULTURAL AND AGRICULTURAL TOPICS, VOICES CONCERNS ABOUT HAPHAZARD DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL LAND IN WESTERN LOUDOUN COUNTY. WORKS TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ON LOCAL HISTORY AND HOSTS COMMUNITY GATHERINGS SUCH AS HISTORICAL LECTURES, VILLAGE CLEAN UP DAYS AND MUSIC ON THE GREEN. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO WORKS TO PROMOTE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND HAS HOSTED ART CLASSES AND YOGA CLASSES.
