Winchester Area SPCA
Enriching lives, ending pet homelessness
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The Winchester Area SPCA's vision is to enrich lives and end pet homelessness.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Partnership
The Winchester Area SPCA partners with Aniciria Veterinary Clinics in both Harrisonburg and Manassas ensure pet owners have access to low cost spay/neuter options.
Pets for Life Pet Retention Program
The WASPCA believes that every pet deserves and family and every family deserves a pet and that no family should be forced to surrender their pet due to a temporary financial issue. Pets for Life, a full service pet retention program, was designed to ensure pets stay out of the over crowded shelter system and with the families that love them. Pet food and emergency financial assistance for pet related issues are available to pet owners in Winchester, Frederick, and Clarke counties as funds allow.
Pet Adoption Services
The Winchester Area SPCA believes that every pet deserves a second chance. All adoptions include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick treatment, initial de-worming, take home box or leash, and one vet exam at a participating veterinary office. Adoption fees range from $95 to $125 and adoption specials are hosted monthly. Please check out the adoptables on the website at winchesterspca.org and then stop by to fill out an application in person at 111 Featherbed Lane in Winchester, VA
Working Cats Project
The Working Cat Project was made possible through a collaboration between the Winchester Area SPCA and a dedicated animal lover named Allie. Pilot program designed to find non-traditional homes for non-traditional kitties.
Keep your outdoor space rodent-free.
spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and MICRO-CHIPPED.

- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
