Mission

The Scotland County Humane Society is an animal welfare organization whose mission is to shelter, protect, and promote the adoption of homeless animals, as well as, provide education about responsible pet ownership. We also have a spay/neuter program to reduce pet overpopulation.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Rescue Relocation

Our cost to alter, provide initial vaccines, deworming, flea/heartworm preventative and microchip in the southeast is considerably lower. We treat for disease such as heartworm, and dogs with broken legs and hips received life saving operations. Our dogs are "adoption ready"
We began providing fully vetted adoptable dogs to our rescue partners, often without reimbursement because, our rescue partners are not able to pay transport fees to the Northeast and reimburse us for medical expenses.

We facilitated the rescue of hundreds through our network of rescue partners. We personally contact, interview and verify references for each partner we collaborate with today. Social media, such as Face book and pet adoption sites (Petfinder, Rescuegroups) market our adoptable dogs nationwide. Our dogs have been adopted coast to coast -- CA to CT. We hold monthly adoption events and the shelter is open for adoptions 5 days a week, or anytime by appointment.
