Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The mission of Women's Voices Chorus is to provide a welcoming place in the North Carolina Triangle for women to share the joy of singing together, to promote choral works by and for women, and to strive to achieve the highest standards of musical excellence.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Concerts
WVC performs two or more major ticketed concerts each year at public venues.
Outreach Concerts
We perform mini-concerts in area retirement homes for residents who appreciate the choral arts but may not be able to attend our public performances.
Summer Community Chorus
Summer Community Chorus is a four-week program open to any female singer in the community (no auditions). It culminates in a charity concert to benefit a local nonprofit. Past recipients include Church World Service, Augustine Literacy Program, Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, Inter-Faith Council, Arts for Life, and many more.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
WVC develops goals on a two-year cycle corresponding to the tenure of the President. The five goals for 2020-2022 are: 1) Reinforce our organization. 2) Improve our product. 3) Strengthen our culture. 4) Enhance our impact. 5) Improve our bottom line.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The strategies for meeting each goal are:
1. Realign the Board Structure to reflect changing positions and tasks
2. Develop plans to make WVC Board Meetings more productive and efficient
3. Implement methods for determining the best fit for volunteers
4. Propose and implement ways to attract a more diverse audition pool.
5. Develop methods to foster inclusivity among the membership.
6. Work to maintain diversity in our musical expression.
7. Make our commitment to diversity and inclusion apparent to the public.
8. Develop a self-assessment checklist for music and non-music issues
9. Determine resources available to singers
10. Consider an Emeritus Member status
11. Review the Leave of Absence Policy
12. Generate additional income
13. Develop methods to expand our funding pool outside of the chorus membership
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
To ensure that we achieve our goals, we assign the implementation of each strategy to a Board Member.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
WVC goals are reviewed often and tracked to indicate whether they are complete, ongoing, or in process. They are revised as needed. The chorus continues to grow and thrive. We are at full capacity for membership (70) and have undertaken two international tours (in 2012 and 2017). Our regular season concerts are consistently well attended, and our summer charity concerts generate significant donations for local nonprofits.
