DOOR International
Deaf Reaching Deaf for Christ
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The Deaf are part of one of the largest unreached and unengaged people groups worldwide. Less than 2% of the world's 70 million Deaf people know Jesus as their Savior. Though the Body of Christ is slowly becoming aware of this vast need, the response is still gaining traction. Only one sign language has a complete Bible. Less than 10% of the world's 350+ sign languages have any published Scriptures. Even if Scripture has been translated into a sign language, it doesn't necessarily mean those Deaf believers have a way to fellowship and grow in Christ. Church planting and biblical leadership development are even rarer than translation efforts. Our God hasn't left His Deaf children without a source of hope. DOOR International pairs disciple-making and translation to reach the Deaf worldwide for Christ.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Disciple-Making (2-by-2) Program
DOOR International trains and empowers Deaf people to evangelize, make disciples, and plant churches among unreached Deaf populations within their respective sign language communities.
Chronological Bible Translation
DOOR's Deaf staff chose Chronological Bible Translation as the most culturally-appropriate way to teach the Word of God to Deaf people worldwide. We have found that not only is this a very effective way to teach Deaf people, but it is transferable; Deaf people are able to go and teach it easily to others.
The core of DOOR's curriculum, developed by our Deaf staff, consists of 131 biblical narratives, each accompanied by an introduction to give context and a section following the translation to provide more information about the passage.
Deaf believers learn how to use these translations to lead Bible studies, home groups, worship services, evangelism, discipleship, leadership training, children's classes, camp programs, and much more.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Access to published Scripture and a disciple-making movement in every Deaf people group worldwide.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
As the Lord provides people, opportunity, and funding, DOOR International plans to expand our disciple-making and translation work into the most strategic areas of the world.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
DOOR International currently operates five offices on four continents and employs over 200 full-time staff. While staffing provides manpower and "boots-on-the-ground" for ministry work, strategic partnerships with 13 like-minded organizations provide opportunity for expansion.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
DOOR International is currently working within 16 countries and 27 Deaf people groups. 20 sign languages have had some Scripture translated so far, and biblical study resources (Topics and Translator's Notes) are being developed in two sign languages.
DOOR currently has 8 translation projects in progress, adding more published Scripture in sign languages every year. In the course of DOOR's history, more than 3000 Deaf leaders have been trained and more than 1000 Deaf-led churches have been planted by our disciple-making (2-by-2) teams.
