Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Union Academy Foundation will focus on three priorities over the next 3-5 years. Those priorities are resource development/fundraising; internal culture and community relations/communication.

Our goals to achieve those priorities are to:
1. cultivate support for campus completion and school financial needs,
2. create a cohesive, collaborative environment to achieve the Foundation's mission and vision,
3. ensure effective, transparent communication of mission, goals and progress.

In order to cultivate support for campus completion and school financial needs we will first identify building priorities and establish target goals for completion with financials goals attached. We will then identify the school financial needs that the Foundation will support. Finally we will assess the efficacy of current funding avenues.

To create a cohesive, collaborative environment to achieve the Foundation's mission and vision we will create and communicate clear, well-defined roles and responsibilities for the board, executive committee and other committees. We will also create and clarify board operations and procedures and create and communicate clear, well-defined goals for the Executive Director. Finally, we will intentionally create a culture of trust, transparency and communication amongst board members and between board and staff.

Finally, to ensure effective, transparent communication of mission, goals and progress we will improve messaging, marketing and branding to achieve clarity and consistency in communication and we will create a yearlong communication plan that outlines what communication goes out, to whom and how often.

We have created a strategic planning committee whose job is to ensure that the strategic plan is being implemented in a timely manner and that any recommended adjustments to the strategies are brought before the full board.

Our #1 building priority has been identified as multi-use fields (baseball, softball, soccer, football) and we are working on putting a capital campaign in place to raise the funds for that.

A new vision statement with a list of values was created.

A list of working agreements to guide each board meeting has been created and implemented.

To date we have created the strategic planning committee that will guide us through the implementation of the plan for the duration of the strategic plan.

The committee has started to write board policies and procedures including meeting prep, agenda items, how to get items on the agenda, succession planning, nominations, elections, lines of communication between board members and management of the Executive Director.

A performance structure for the Foundation staff is also being created based on best practices.

We have made space at the end of each board meeting for constructive feedback between board and staff and board with board and we evaluate how well we are upholding our values we set.

We still have a lot of work to do but with the lead of the committee and the follow through of the Executive Director, we will accomplish our goals!
