Our mission is To break cycles of poverty and elevate rural Salvadoran communities through innovative and pertinent education for youth. To do this, we provide relevant skills to youth and adults to tackle and solve pressing issues related to chronic underdevelopment in Central America. We envision a healthy, safe, and prosperous El Salvador where youth and their families can build a future to stay. Together, we will prepare our young people with the technical and human qualities that allow them to shape their own future with security and quality.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Chronic underdevelopment, characterized by limited educational opportunities and stunted economic growth, plagues rural Northern Morazan, El Salvador, Central America. Further, COVID-19 has created the largest disruption of education in history with rural areas in low-income countries being hit the hardest, particularly in Northern Morazan, El Salvador. This continuous challenge exacerbates existing realities of poverty, climate change, food insecurity, low-quality education, & internet inequality in the region.

Amún Shéa Center for Integrated Development

Amún Shéa is a private non-profit educational center accredited by the Salvadoran Ministry of Education MINED for grades K-12. This educational center is based in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology where learning is focused on the understanding of the reality that surrounds us, transforming socio-economic obstacles into our main topics of study. As a result, our students our challenged to discover opportunities for personal and social development through a practical application of the academic in the real world. As such, we have created a five-step educational protocol: (1) Investigation, (2) Invention, (3) Cooperation, (4) Creation, and (5) Publication. Please visit amunshea.com for more details.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We aim to build a healthy, safe, and prosperous El Salvador where youth and their families can build a future to stay. In partnership with the Salvadoran people, we will prepare our young people with the technical and human qualities that allow them to shape their own future with security and quality.

We use a multi-faceted, community-level response to reach our vision of a brighter and more peaceful El Salvador. We work in partnership with community members and local organizations to improve rural education for children, youth, and adults. This includes a focus on STEM learning, English-language training, and sustainable agricultural practices, all within a peacebuilding commitment.
