What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Tau Grants
Tau grants are awarded through two annual grant cycles in the three Florida regions (Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Tampa Bay) encompassing six counties (Miami-Dade, Martin, St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Hillsborough and Pinellas). Generally, Tau grants are awarded to smaller nonprofits with organizational or program needs that are limited in scope. FY21 Tau Grants will support capacity building efforts for organizations or programs that are aligned with our mission and address at least one of the social determinants of health. Requests up to $10,000 will be considered.
ACOR (Allegany Community Out Reach) Grants
ACOR supports programs affiliated with the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany or Trinity Health, and includes support to Franciscan Sisters of Allegany ministries throughout the United States as well as abroad, especially in Brazil and Jamaica. Funds are awarded in two cycles each year, and range up to $5,000.
St. Clare Fund
Funding is set aside each year for activities or projects that support our mission and focus, and
impact the communities we serve. These may include national, statewide, or
regional advocacy efforts, philanthropic partnerships, educational, research and planning
activities, disaster response or other appropriate projects. Several organizations may be funded
continually as part of an ongoing relationship; others may receive one-time awards for specific
projects. Organizations whose primary purpose is to provide capacity building to
nonprofits also may be funded through St. Clare. Grants generally range from $5,000 to
$100,000. There are no deadlines. Direct unsolicited requests are not accepted.
Common Good Initiative
Allegany Franciscan Ministries created the Common Good Initiative to work with people in three participating communities (Overtown in Miami, Wimauma in Tampa Bay and Lincoln Park in Fort Pierce) to build healthier, safer, and more connected places where everyone thrives. The initiative is committed to listening and learning from members of the community, through engaging local volunteers who guide the initiative in line with community-identified priorities, as well as direct communication and interaction with community members. Allegany Franciscan Ministries has committed to invest $1M in each region in FY15, with continued support over eight years. We will work with residents and stakeholders to create opportunities, develop strategies and make investments that lead to positive health outcomes.
