Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Per Strategic Plan Goals, Skylark is seeking to double the number of abortion determined clients identified and served through outreach efforts. Another goal we seek to accomplish is obtaining a full volunteer staff at all three locations to serve the increased client load. We also desire to see an increase in the number of Gospel presentations to clients. An increase in the number of purity commitments made by means of our chastity challenge program and the character-based abstinence BRAVEheart program is desired. We would like to see an increase in participation in our Abortion Recovery services, providing women the healing and help they need. Finally, we desire to see an increase in reported parenting skills through participation and completion of our Earn While You Learn program.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
To achieve the first goal, we have strategies in place, including conducting a focus group, developing and funding an annual marketing plan, and maximizing our centers’ participation in the Online for Life program, an online referral service for women seeking information about abortions. To obtain a full volunteer load, we plan to develop recruitment materials such as brochures and a new display for fairs, implement a recruitment campaign that involves more church and community presentations, and develop our volunteer training and volunteer appreciation to increase current volunteer retention. To see an increase in Gospel presentations and the number of purity commitments made, specialized volunteer training must be performed to ensure that all volunteers are prepared to share accurate information at the appropriate time. To see an increase in the Abortion Recovery services, a recruitment campaign must be developed in order to communicate the availability of this service to the community and local churches. Finally, to see an increase in parenting skills through participation in Earn While You Learn, we plan to ensure volunteers are trained in teaching the skills outlined in the curriculum. A marketing plan must be developed to advertise the service to the community, and current and new clients will be offered admission into the program.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
With our partnership with JDA USA, a nationally acclaimed marketing agency, a marketing plan and the steps leading up to the development of such a plan can be achieved. We also have several staff members with experience in design and marketing to assist with this project. To strengthen our volunteer training measures, we are fortunate to have a very experienced trainer as our executive director. We also hold regular volunteer in-services to update current volunteers on new policies. As an organization that has been serving our community for over 20 years, we already have a strong relationship with local churches and community organizations, so the implements to share information with these entities are already in place.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
At this point in time, we have made considerable progress on our strategic goals. The focus group to learn more about the marketing habits of the target client has already been conducted, and we have been in communication with a nationally acclaimed marketing agency with a local office to begin plans for the marketing plan. We are presently participating in the Online for Life program for all three centers, and we are staying updated on their new opportunities for participation. We have completed the updated design of new brochures, including new volunteer recruitment brochures and Abortion Recovery Services brochures. We have yet to accomplish updating our volunteer training measures to ensure that Gospel presentations are increased and more clients are making chastity challenge commitments. We are in progress on the goal to see increased parenting skills, working on implementing a plan to administer the parenting knowledge inventories on a regular basis.
