Transforming Life in Nicaragua

Buford, GA

Mission

Our mission is to serve, so that Christ becomes more visible by providing opportunities for missionaries and impoverished families to grow through life-changing experiences. We strive to develop rural communities based on a model that brings clean water and sanitation, health care, education, and economic opportunities to families. Each year, we host over 2000 missionaries in Chinandega, Nicaragua. Working side by side with the communities, we bridge language and cultural barriers and offer hope and opportunity.

What we aim to solve New!

The need in Nicaragua is great; it’s the second poorest country in the western hemisphere. In Nicaragua, kidney disease kills more people each year than in any other nation. Most children don’t finish the sixth grade. Skin disease, parasites, and respiratory disease run rampant. Improved health and family life are impossible to achieve alone, yet hope remains. We work shoulder-to-shoulder with Nicaraguan neighbors to bring clean water, healthcare, education, and economic opportunity to rural communities in need.

Organizational Demographics

In order to support nonprofits and gain valuable insight for the sector, GuideStar worked with D5—a five-year initiative to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy—in creating a questionnaire. This section is a voluntary questionnaire that empowers organizations to share information on the demographics of who works in and leads organizations. To protect the identity of individuals, we do not display sexual orientation or disability information for organizations with fewer than 15 staff. Any values displayed in this section are percentages of the total number of individuals in each category (e.g. 20% of all Board members for X organization are female).
