Mission
Southern Amateur Hockey Association Mission Statement
To cost effectively perform under our contract with USA Hockey - which is doing the business of USA Hockey (administer, govern, regulate, promote, and grow the sport of amateur hockey) in our geographical area of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
To support and assist our member associations as they execute business models to manage, promote and grow amateur hockey.
To exercise responsible financial stewardship, maintaining financial control and accountability without allowing any individual or association unfair benefit or advantage.

What we aim to solve
We Are USA Hockey USA Hockey provides the foundation for the sport of ice hockey in America; helps young people become leaders, even Olympic heroes; and connects the game at every level while promoting a lifelong love of the sport.

Membership Growth and Retention
With the assistance of USA Hockey, SAHA provides programs for member associations to promote the growth and the retention of participants in the sport of ice hockey. This includes Try Hockey for Free, Hockey Weekend Across America, and Learn to Play Hockey programs as well as a grant program available to member associations to provide financial assistance for local growth and retention programs. SafeSport
The safety of its participants is of paramount importance to USA Hockey and to SAHA. This includes not only on-ice safety, but also off-ice safety in any part of USA Hockey and SAHA’s programs. SAHA has adopted the USA Hockey SafeSport Program, which includes the USA Hockey Screening Program. SafeSport is intended to protect all participants, not just players, from any type of misconduct or abuse.
USA Hockey and SAHA have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for abuse and misconduct. Through the USA Hockey SafeSport Program, USA Hockey and SAHA are committed to creating the safest possible environment for participation in hockey.
Coaching Certification and Training
The USA Hockey Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis. Coaching certification as well as SafeSport certification is also required.
