A new affordable veterinary clinic in our community where you receive comprehensive, compassionate care for your best friend. We want to be the path to healthier pets. Our goal of the Wellness Center at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County is to provide an elevated level of care to un-owned shelter animals and to provide affordable services to our village.

Our veterinarian, Dr. Stanton, has been a licensed veterinarian for 14 years. He has years of experience in emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, and critical care. He is excited to bring his level of skill to provide affordable care to animals in need.

Be a Part of Saving Lives
We encourage you to visit our shelter on a regular basis to meet the available pets. Because we have a high volume of pets arriving each week, we encourage you to visit our website often and check out our adoptable dogs and cats or visit in person.

Adding a dog or cat to your family can be a 20-year commitment. Different breeds or groups display particular characteristics. It is important to research breeds, and realistically consider the time, space, training needs and resources you can regularly provide for any particular pet before you adopt.

Listed below is general guideline information.

The Humane Society helps fill the pantries of our fellow villagers
We understand the animal to human bond, and believe that it is something that should not be broken or torn apart due to financial setbacks. The Humane Society offers free or low cost pet food to those in need.

Our pet food pantry is replenished by donations from our community and local businesses, like our friends at Pet Supplies Plus of Port St. Lucie.

In an effort to keep the gastrointestinal issues of the animals in our care to a minimum, we purchase food for them. The donations of food we receive are placed in the pantries of our villagers.

The Pet Food Pantry operates Tuesday thru Friday from 11:00am-4:00pm.

Please donate pet food to our Pet Food Pantry today! Help the HSSLC help our fellow villagers.

Please send donations to our shelter at 8890 Glades Cut-Off Rd.

The HSSLC Enrichment program is designed to improve and enhance the mental lives of the dogs in our care. Many times dogs come into a shelter and become anxious or depressed. There is such a high energy level in the kennels that stresses some dogs out. Certain dog breeds also require a lot more exercise and attention than other breeds. If they aren’t able to get the needed exercise, this can lead to anxiousness or lashing out.

Types of Enrichment:
We are improving the mental state of our dog’s by using a range of activities designed to challenge and exercise their brains. Enrichment can come from various activities including food puzzles, licking mats, jolly balls, and play groups. Both physical and mental states need to be taken into consideration when enriching a dog.

1. Food Puzzles/ Slow Feeders/ Food Games
2. Play Groups
3. Group Training
4. Individual Enrichment
