What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Parkinson's Outcomes Project
The Parkinson’s Outcomes Project is the largest-ever clinical study of Parkinson’s disease in the world, studying nearly 10,000 patients in four countries. This ground-breaking initiative enables us to track and monitor the care over time of patients who are seen at NPF Centers of Excellence.
What makes this project truly innovative is that it studies everyone with Parkinson’s, from the newly-diagnosed to people who have lived with Parkinson’s for 20 years or more, providing us with a comprehensive view of the disease and its overall impact on people’s lives.
Aware in Care Hospital Safety Kit
Our research showed that three out of four people with Parkinson’s do not receive their medications on time when staying in the hospital, leading to greater risk of complications and even death. To address this need and protect, prepare and empower people with Parkinson’s before, during and after a hospital visit, NPF has developed a free Aware in Care kit with tools and information to share with hospital staff during a planned or emergency hospital stay.
Centers of Excellence Network
NPF’s Centers of Excellence exemplify our clinical think-tank: a group of the world’s leading Parkinson’s specialists focused on changing the course of Parkinson’s disease. Forty-one leading medical centers worldwide:
- Deliver care to more than 108,000 Parkinson’s patients
- Create a community of health care professionals dedicated to Parkinson’s care
- Work to advance a comprehensive approach to care that addresses the whole person and full range of symptoms
1-800-4PD-INFO Helpline
The National Parkinson Foundation’s 1-800-4PD-INFO Helpline is staffed by nurses, social workers and therapists who are experts in Parkinson’s disease. The Helpline’s Parkinson’s Information Specialists support the Parkinson’s community by:
- Providing current disease information
- Discussing medical issues, including symptoms and treatments
- Health and social care
- Emotional support
- Referrals to health professionals and community resources for local support
Moving Day®, a Walk for Parkinson’s
The National Parkinson Foundation’s Moving Day® Walk is a fun, inspiring fundraising event that unites families, friends and communities in the fight against Parkinson’s disease. Held in cities across the United States, it is the first grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives you the chance to speak out in your own community.
