What we aim to solve
We are working to eliminate isolation and hunger in Manatee County by providing nutrition and caring, supportive services through our four PLUS programs: Home-delivered Meals, The Food Bank of Manatee, Daybreak Adult Day Center, and Friendship Dining Centers.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Daybreak Adult Day Center
For caregivers and their loved ones, Daybreak is an essential program in Manatee County. It is the only licensed and federally funded Adult Day Care provider in the area, offering respite for stressed caregivers and theraputic services for the elderly. Daybreak is open Monday through Friday, allowing caregivers to work or attend to personal needs without worrying about leaving their loved one at home alone. Trained staff lead clients in games, crafts, and activities that help add purpose, fun, and interaction with friends into their daily routines. Without the services for both caregivers and their loved ones, many more people would be in assisted living facilities, rather than enjoying life at home with family.
The Food Bank of Manatee
The Food Bank of Manatee, is a PLUS program of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee and is the largest hunger relief organization based in Manatee County. Through its network of 115+ local partner organizations, nearly 4.8 million pounds of food were distributed in Manatee County in 2024. The Food Bank of Manatee is an independent food bank relying 100% on the support of the community to meet the needs in Manatee County. Established in 1985, all donations stay local to serve local.
Home-delivered Meals
Through Home-delivered Meals program, senior citizens who are homebound or disabled and can no longer cook for themselves receive nutritious meals delivered to their homes. Caring volunteers and staff deliver meals and additional items our clients may need including pet food, fresh fruits and vegetables, shelf-stable meals, and hurricane meals. For many clients, their meal-delivery driver is the only person they see, making our meal delivery more than "just" a meal delivery - it's a lifeline to the world that prevents isolation and lonliness.
Friendship Dining Centers
Friendship Dining Centers are welcoming places were seniors can come together to enjoy a meal, social interaction, and engaging programming to keep them connected to their community and each other. These partial-day programs with convenient locations in East and West Bradenton, allow seniors time to fellowship, learn & grow, and receive vital nutrition in a safe, and caring atmosphere.
