Mission

Mission Statement: To assist individuals to live independently by providing caring, supportive services. You may know "Meals on Wheels," but Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee is much, much more. Through our services, we provide hope, healing, independence, and friendship. In addition to the traditional home-delivered meals provided to homebound or disabled seniors, we offer transportation, social activities, and enrichment opportunities. The most unique aspect of Meals on Wheels PLUS is that we operate The Food Bank of Manatee, serving babies, families, and individuals in need through our network of 85+ partner agencies. Through this program and all the others we offer, Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee furthers its vision of "individuals in Manatee County have access to programs that end hunger and promote independent living." The Board of Directors and staff are committed to meeting the needs of our community and working so that no child, family, or senior goes hungry.

What we aim to solve

Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Daybreak Adult Day Center

For caregivers and their loved ones, Daybreak is an essential program in Manatee County. It is the only licensed and federally funded Adult Day Care provider in the area, offering respite for stressed caregivers and theraputic services for the elderly. Daybreak is open Monday through Friday, allowing caregivers to work or attend to personal needs without worrying about leaving their loved one at home alone. Trained staff lead clients in games, crafts, and activities that help add purpose, fun, and interaction with friends into their daily routines. Without the services for both caregivers and their loved ones, many more people would be in assisted living facilities, rather than enjoying life at home with family.

For many clients, their meal-delivery driver is the only person they see, making our meal delivery more than "just" a meal delivery - it's a lifeline to the world that prevents isolation and lonliness.

Friendship Dining Centers are welcoming places were seniors can come together to enjoy a meal, social interaction, and engaging programming to keep them connected to their community and each other. Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to provide vital nutrition to babies, families, and the elderly while also providing caring, supportive services for residents in Manatee County through our PLUS programs.

Develop a culture of fundraising by fostering participatory processes involving board, staff and volunteers to maximize resources to expand awareness.

Our organization will build on successful year-over-year growth in direct mail appeals, continue to identify, cultivate and secure contributions from individual donors while focusing on donor stewardship and the impact of each and every dollar donated.

We are working very hard to ensure stewardship and accountability of every dollar we receive. We are also making great progress in communicating our brand story to the public. We rely on the support of our community to meet the ever-increasing needs in our community and provide hope to those who need it most.
