What we aim to solve

Today, more than 40 million people are living in poverty and struggling to make ends meet in the United States. Programs such as AYUDA’s provide support and access to critical needs for the most vulnerable, such as healthy nutrition, affordable childcare, community health counseling, subsidized transportation to teens and prevention services to children and their families. The goal of AYUDA for all clients served is to empower them by increasing knowledge, self-assurance and general quality of life.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
AYUDA’s core community is children from low income homes. We propose to bridge the gap for those children without economic opportunities and for those that have varied disabilities. Both of these groups of children greatly benefit by being in brain stimulating arts therapeutic programs that will help them succeed in school and in life. Support such as the one proposed herein is needed to provide early education creative opportunities for children of low-income homes. Our population includes children of working parents, children of parents transitioning from welfare to work, children of homeless parents and children that have been abused, neglected or abandoned and especially children with special needs living in poverty.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Strategies include marketing (social media, e-newsletters) and fundraising to fund our programs and to reach those who need our services. In November of 2018 we went through a re-branding process and changed our logo and updated our website. In June 2019 we began working on a new brochure.
Program aims to support the District’s Mental Health Assistant Plan. M-DCPS is the nation’s 4th largest school district with over 345,000. AYUDA has been contracted to provided mental health assessment, mental health screening and case management to their students in need.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
AYUDA is located in Miami Beach, Florida and was incorporated in the State of Florida in 1977 to provide services primarily in Miami-Dade County, Florida. AYUDA offers various community services including aftercare enrichment services for underprivileged children, child counseling, parenting skills training, and tutoring, family guidance and crisis intervention in domestic violence and child abuse cases. The Organization also assists elderly adults with mental, emotional and physical disabilities.
AYUDA has a proven record of accomplishment of community involvement and collaboration as demonstrated by Interagency Partnerships with Metro Dade Department of Human Services, Child Development Services, Department of Education, Nutritional Services Division, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and others. These Agencies collaborate with AYUDA as education and referral resources for identifying high-risk families. The Organization has found that, when working in unison with these community resources, the agency’s task is easier – to help develop responsible individuals and parents who engage in productive behavior. With AYUDA’s collaborative efforts, family and socio-environmental factors that place children at greater risk for involvement in criminal behavior are addressed for children as early as four years of age.
