Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1. Launch the Beaches Living Network: Coordinating with other
organizations, create, pilot, and refine a program to connect
senior beaches residents to the help already available through
other organizations and to identify where service gaps exist. ACHIEVED Jan. 2022
2. Build a Service Knowledge Base: Catalog and keep up-to-date
information on services for seniors in a format that is easily
and quickly accessible. ACHIEVED Nov. 2021
3. Recruit & Celebrate Community Volunteers: Match people to
rewarding volunteer opportunities that enrich quality of life for
both the person served and the volunteer. ACHIEVED and ONGOING- Jan. 2022
4. Build Sustainable Operations: Building on our current base,
seek a diverse revenue blend, and invest in staff and facilities
to support these programs. ONGOING
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Pilot the “Beaches Living Network”- Requested by all Senior Agencies at the Beach, we are now the information HUB for senior services.
• Rough out how the program and process will work
• Hire a coordinator
• Identify agency partners and individual contacts
o Create filter to evaluate potential partners – needed services, aligned values
o Establish relationships and, if appropriate, Memorandums of Understanding
2. Build Service Knowledge Base - We've identified and obtained information from a large number of Senior Service Organizations and specific contact information to help our Seniors find the help they need.
• Linked to partnerships
• Identify supporting technology
• Identify refresh process
3. Recruit Volunteers - These volunteers assist in keeping track of the health and wellbeing of our riders and check on them weekly. They are trained to assist with contacing our information coordinator when a service is in need. We follow up to assure the service has been performed
• Identify the skills needed in volunteers as the programs expand
• Reach out through the faith network
• Identify if new board skills / networks are needed as programs expand
4. Seek Funding - This is obviously an ongoing process. We have recently aquired a board member who is assisting us in the developement of a new website and other communication tools to assist us in Educating our donors.
• Educate donors on change / expansion in services
• Identify and apply for grants
• Apply to Baptist to fund a coordinator position
5. Consider staffing options - The most difficult goal in this enviornment
• Evaluate the organization chart in relation to expanded services.
• Evaluate pay levels and how to bring wages in line with market rates, also plan for rising minimum wages. Have requested several grants to increase the driver's pay to $15.00/hour NOW not to wait until September of 2023.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have met most of our Strategic Plan 2021-2023 goals already with the exception of staffing. It has been the biggest challenge to our expansion. It took us a year to find a driver for our new Saturday service expansion so we now serve seniors and our dialysis patients six days a week.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
1. Pilot the “Beaches Living Network”- Achieved
2. Build Service Knowledge Base - Achieved and Ongoing
3. Recruit Volunteers - Achieved and Ongoing. We have 23 and need 20 more.
4. Seek Funding - We received funding from Baptist Beaches Medical Center to staff our new Information Coordinator position
5. Consider staffing options - Working on.
