Mission

The Suncoast Health Council, Inc. was created by Florida Statute in 1983 to identify, address and resolve health care issues of local concern. The Council's mission is to improve health in Pinellas and Pasco Counties through planning, education and service delivery.

1. Gather data, engage others, build consensus, set priorities and develop recommendations to resolve local health issues.
2. Inform consumers, providers, elected officials, staff and Board members through training and education.
3. Work collaboratively to create and administer service systems to improve the consumer's ability to navigate and access care.
4. Market the Suncoast Health Council in the community for partnership, collaboration and contract opportunities.
5. Identify and secure a variety of funding sources on key community health issues.
6. Utilize performance based contracting to delineate contractual expectations with funders.
7. Develop and launch earned income strategies.

Our staff has extensive experience in health planning, program development/implementation and community collaboration. Our Board members support our goals and activities as defined in our Strategic Plan.

1. Produced HIV epidemiology report, HIV service priorities and county health profiles.
2. Conducted new member training (HIV planning council, board of directors).
3. Issued program specific infographics and advocacy/issue alert.
4. Expanded Insurance Services Program and MedNet Program.
5. Conceptualized Healthy St. Pete App and Plant Healthy St. Pete Initiative.
6. Created new social media accounts.
7. Curated agency and issue-specific media content.
8. Produced scheduled media posts.
9. Increased MedNet funding and Insurance Services funding.
10. Achieved 100% compliance with contact requirements.
