E-Nini-Hassee
For adolescent girls who are having emotional or behavioral difficulties, Eckerd Connects’ E-Nini-Hassee Outdoor Therapeutic School for Girls delivers fully-accredited education and counseling services in a therapeutic outdoor environment that fosters personal growth.
E-Nini-Hassee was founded in 1969 by Jack and Ruth Eckerd as the first outdoor therapeutic program for troubled girls in the southeast.
At E-Nini-Hassee, the Eckerds created a positive, strength-based environment for girls ages 12-18 to experience nurturing guidance. Students are able to see adults role modeling appropriate behaviors, learn in an educational setting with passionate teachers and participate in therapeutic outdoor adventures during their time at the school. E-Nini-Hassee helps girls fully realize the potential that already exists within them.
We specialize in treating the following diagnosis:
Depression
Substance abuse
ADD/ADHD
Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD)
Bi-polar Disorder (Manic Depression)
Anxiety
Eating disorders
Poor impulse control
Co-occurring disorders/Dual Diagnosis
Other disorders
Today, E-Nini-Hassee remains the most established and trusted outdoor therapeutic school for girls in all of the Southeast. It is also consistently identified as one of the most effective programs of its kind.
Workforce Development
Eckerd Connects’ Workforce Development provides career pathways and support to adults, dislocated workers, and youth ages 16 and older. Its one-stop delivery system provides a range of career services to fit the needs of each individual. Additionally, Workforce Development aligns with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and provides all of its employment services free of charge to eligible participants.
Foster Care and Adoption Services
Eckerd Connects recruits, trains and supports individuals to provide temporary care, love and nurturing to children 0-18 years of age.
In addition to serving as the legal guardian for children, foster parents also serve as mentors who actively help parents improve their ability to safely care for their children. In some cases, foster families may adopt children when the children cannot return to their biological family.
Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) is available for children and teens ages 3-18 in need of extra care and attention as they await adoption or reunification. Services include basic living and social skills training, educational support and mental health counseling as needed.
Features:
Individual and family therapy
Educational support and advocacy
Tracking and service referrals
Raising Hope
Eckerd Connects Raising Hope provides emergency and comfort items for kids entering the foster care system.
Rooms of Hope are set up like small stores and are filled with fresh clothing, pajamas, shoes, hygiene items, diapers, school supplies and other necessities. The kids come in and are able to “no-cost shop” for the items they not only need, but deserve. Every child is able to receive a new duffel bag for their belongings—no more trash bags!
Kids are able to have items to call their own when everything they have has been lost … plus they are able to retain their dignity and have hope during a very traumatic time in their lives.
