Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
To increase the public appreciation of Pan American World Airways, and more broadly, that of global commercial aviation, as the industry has evolved since its inception.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Through its online presence via a website and related social media, as well as serving an engaged core of members, the Pan Am Historical Foundation reaches out to those who are, or can be, engaged in the appreciation of commercial aviation achievements. We also sponsor academic research, and partner with other organizations such as the Otto G. Richter Library's Special Collections Division at the University of Miami, HistoryMiami, and the Louis Turpen Museum and Library at San Francisco International Airport when appropriate to further the objectives of the foundation.
Additionally, the foundation occasionally supports special projects, such as the development of "Across the Pacific", a documentary film project for television.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Foundation's membership represents a strong base of experience and interest, for all aspects of the organization's programs. Additionally, given the international reach of our unique community of interest, we can draw on the talent, connections, and experience of a global network, all lending support to the core objective of public outreach and education.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our support of an ongoing scholarship program is well established (and grant recipients have gone on to make noteworthy contributions as a result). The foundation continues to publish the Clipper Newsletter, an outstanding channel for information and education. The website has been completely revamped and continues to evolve to reflect current online technology as well as changing content. Our archival, consultative, and informational resources have been sought out and made available to electronic and print content producers and journalists, providing an authoritative reference source.
