Investing in Our Children's Future

aka Escambia County Public School Foundation   |   Pensacola, FL   |  https://ecsd-fl.schoolloop.com/ecpsf

Mission

The mission of the Escambia County Public Schools Foundation is to enhance education by investing in our children's future to ensure they graduate on time and are college or career ready. Established in 1986, the Foundation has distributed almost $12.5 million dollars to public education. The Foundation accomplishes this by working with educational, community and business leaders to raise private funds and resources for our students, teachers, and schools. Donations can enhance the Grants for Excellence Program, Golden Apple Awards Banquet for Teachers of the Year, Academic and MIRA Awards Receptions for outstanding students, or Take Stock in Children Scholarships. Contributions can also be matched through state funds in partnership with the Consortium of Florida Education Foundation.

Grants for Excellence Program

Grants for Excellence are funded by the Escambia County Public School Foundation and matching grant funds from the School District Education Foundation Matching Grant Program. Grants are available for teachers of students in grades K-12. Grants up to $7,000 will be awarded in the 2021-2022 cycle in the priority areas of Career/Technical Education, Increasing Graduation Rates, Literacy, Low-Performing Students, STEM Education, or Teaching. The projects funded must engage and excite students while simultaneously improving their performance and furthering the goals of Escambia County School District.

MIRA, meaning "bright star," was conceived by a group of teachers at Tate High School in Cantonment, Florida in 1987. Potential award categories include chorus, orchestra, creative achievement, creative writing, culinary arts, debate, graphic arts, instrumental music, journalism, orchestra, photography, pottery, theatre, TV production, visual arts, and vocal music.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Again, based on our Strategic Plan, our goals are as follows:

1. Use the Benevon Model as a guide to build and increase annual partnerships with individuals, businesses, and industry.
2. Improve long-term financial security by building an endowment fund.
3. Identify and confirm event sponsors.
4. Secure annual donations so the Foundation can double the impact to our district by receiving 100% of CFEF matching funds.
5. Increase presence in community by telling the 'story' of our Foundation and our activities.
6. Help the community better understand the Foundation to attract donors and volunteers.
7. Implement the Friends of the Foundation program to assist in meeting the needs of the Foundation.

The following strategies are used by our Foundation to achieve the goals previously mentioned:

1. Host the Enhancing Education Luncheon.
2. Discuss options with donors or family foundations to bequeath funds to the Foundation.
3. Coordinate and host events to celebrate and recognize teacher and student achievement.
4. Provide Grants for Excellence, including Teacher Opportunity Grants, to improve outcomes of students.
5. Maximize social media and news outlets to reach targeted audiences.
6. Implement Donor Perfect to manage our donor database.
7. Invite Friends of the Foundation to participate in events as our chief volunteer force.

The Escambia County Public Schools Foundation is a community investment organization comprised of 24 volunteer board members from business, industry, community, and school district with the common goal of enriching and enhancing the quality of education for students and educators across the county. Each board member serves as a member of either the awards, finance, fundraising, grants, or public relations committees. Their goal is to support and implement the strategic plan of the Foundation, which focuses on raising funds, ensuring operational soundness, and maximizing donors and the network of volunteers.
