Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goals fall into four areas. The first is discipleship where we want to see 200 familes attend camps in Romania, a fully operational high school program in the Philippines and a church building in Haiti. The second area is health, where we want to provide 640,000 school lunches each school year in Haiti and implement a pilot project in Haiti on school based community health. In social develpment we want to see a program in each of our schools that focuses on citizenship. Lastly education, our largest area. For this year we want to provide 5 new classrooms in Haiti and expand the facility in TayTay, Phillipines.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Utilizing vounteers, staff and local people in each of our sixteen countries we seek to be the most effective partner in a community. By matching donors and needs we can be efficient. Our big strategic peice is a campaign accross all media to inform how easy it is to help with our school lunch program. In the Philippines, our efforts are to build capacity within the local churches and school to implement and run the high school discipleship program.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Star of Hope has very capable staff in each country along with strategic partnerships to enable the sucessful outcome of our projects. That teamed with donors in the USA, Canada, Norway and Sweden who provide resources, gives the capacity to accomplish the goals.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In the first month of the Haiti lunch initiative more than 24,000 lunches have been funded. Summer camp in Romania in 2015 had over 100 families. The Philippines has started the project as a pilot and anticipates expanding it.
