Alafia River Rendezvous®
The Alafia River Rendezvous(TM) is sponsored by the Florida Frontiersmen, Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit organization committed to preserving the skills of our first settlers, pioneers and mountain men in the use of muzzle loading firearms and the equipment and accouterments that accompanied such use. We endeavor to promote fellowship together with historical appreciation of the era and equipment. The Alafia Rendezvous is an embodiment of these commitments and endeavors.
FLORIDA FRONTIERSMEN, INC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Award academic scholarships to high school seniors emphasizing early American history.
History Outreach Program
Provide re-enactors, craftsmen, docents, etc. to schools, historical sites, and communities to teach about early American history and its material culture.
Monthly Florida Frontiersmen, Inc. (FFI) Meets
The FFI meets monthly for muzzleloading firelock, traditional archery, and hawk & knife completion. There are also monthly seminars focused on pre-1840 history, trades, and crafts.

Preserving early American history through the study and replication of the material culture of pre-1840 America, and to pass this knowledge on to future generations.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Hosting the Alafia River Rendezvous®, a national event that showcases pre-1840 America through reenacting and replicating the skills, cultural heritages and materials of that time period.
• To teach pre-1840 American history through its youth and scholarship programs that includes
o Bartow and Fort Meade High Schools
o Boy and Girl Scouts
o 4-H
o Royal Rangers
o Other youth organizations including its own membership
• To teach pre-1840 American history to interested adults through an adult program
• Use an outreach program to share pre-1840 American history with schools, civic and social organizations, and to others requesting its services.
• Members participate at historical sites like Fort Foster, St. Augustine, Payne's Creek, etc.

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Florida Frontiersmen, Inc. has a very large, active, due paying membership base, the Alafia River Rendezvous® fund raiser, along with donations and grants giving it the capability of accomplishing its mission and goals.
The Florida Frontiersmen, Inc. owns a 300 plus acre venue for having the Alafia River Rendezvous®, monthly organized events featuring skilled competition and demonstrations using pre-1840 tools and through organized seminars, a wildlife sanctuary that includes wetlands, and room for future growth.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The Florida Frontiersmen, Inc. has become the largest historical organization of its kind in Florida.
The Florida Frontiersmen, Inc.'s Alafia River Rendezvous® is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the United States. Its accomplishments are made through the organization's dedication, hard work, perseverance, and leadership.
The Florida Frontiersmen, Inc.'s has a goal of becoming a history resource center featuring facilities for teaching 1640 to 1840 skills and crafts such as blacksmithing, coopering, tailoring, etc. A research facility that will be focused on 1640 to 1840 America using the latest research technology, and partnering with other institutions and universities to provide the resources for the researcher.
A retreat for those seeking to replicate and reenact pre-1840 America for research, and for relaxation.
