Women's Emergency Network, Inc.

WEN provides care for hundreds of poor, isolated women and girls every year. They are single mothers who cannot afford to raise another child; girls too young or too troubled to be mothers; survivors of rape, incest or abuse; people living with AIDS, mental illness, or other serious disease; women battling addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Each year, WEN provides approximately 800 of these women and girls counseling to explore their options and feelings. For the minority who choose to continue their pregnancies, WEN makes referrals to the best low-cost prenatal care, and when necessary, to reputable adoption agencies. For those who choose to terminate the pregnancy, WEN subsidizes the cost of a safe abortion with South Florida's most respected clinics. All clients receive birth control counseling, safe sex edcation and, as needed, referrals for future care.
