Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Complete the Refresh so that we can unveil a vital new facility that allows for both docent-led and self-guided tours.
Capitalize on the Museum's existing educational assets as we grow the STEAM Space program.
Establish the facility as the leading education/preservation institution in the region.
Expand our collection to include even more one-of-a-kind artifacts from the early space program.
Bring the STEAM Saturdays and existing educational programming under the auspices of STEAM Space
Add two additional five-week STEAM Saturday events, with all new curriculum
Establish two new camps – Rocketry and Computer Camp, one in Jan. 2017 and one in June 2017
Contact several key individuals to work with us in curriculum and program development – i.e. Jim Carter for rocketry camp, Fremont Bassett for computer camp, and others
Establish a core group of educators and leaders to advise on the development of STEAM Space.
Begin setting up the Makerspace with activities and projects selected from our STEAM Shop.
Utilize the manpower and intellectual capacity of the LEAD Brevard class members to establish content and lessons for the 2016-17 STEAM Space program
Have several team with STEAM Space teachers and Director to create new lesson plans
Have several team with STEAM Space staff to develop outline for January Rocketry Camp and June Computer Camp
Build relationships with area schools, churches, social agencies, and others in order to identify students who will benefit from the museum's program.
Set up a community program that invites leaders from local agencies to “sample" our educational programs – i.e. they will hear about the goals for STEAM Space, tour the museum, meet our teachers, build a “bristlebot," and conduct several experiments like those used in our STEAM program. They will be provided with a process and paperwork for scholarshipping young people into upcoming programs.
Create a similar professional development day for teachers that allows them to tour the facility and also provides lesson plans and other activities and take-aways that teachers can use in their classrooms.
Create a digital STEAM Space mailing to local agencies that outlines our goals and lists the schedule for classes in the year ahead. Provide updates as new programs are added or as current offerings draw near
Build relationships with area businesses, contractors and government agencies in order to begin establishing mentoring relationships for the students.
Contact existing museum partners and ask for participation in various classes or activities under the STEAM Space umbrella.
Eventually establish a state-of-the-art training venue that challenges young people's perceptions of themselves and their environment.
Expand our “Makerspace" within the museum facility under the title “Children's Discovery Center." This facility will be tested
