Programs and results
What we aim to solve
We are proud to serve more than 1,500 children each year through our after-school and summer programming. We have three clubhouses, one each in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Fellsmere. While at the Clubs, our kids participate in educational programming, complete their homework, stay active outdoors, and engage in the latest technologies. Each Club follows the Boys & Girls Club of America's Formula for Impact to ensure that all youth are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, are demonstrating good character and citizenship and are living healthy lifestyles.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County follows the national organization's Formula for Impact where we serve the youth who need us the most with an outcome driven experience to result in three priority outcome areas which include academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. The outcome driven experience includes high yield activities, targeted program and regular attendance. Our core program areas include character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, and sports, fitness and recreation. Programs in these areas are designed with the outcomes in mind. The goal is that every Club member will graduate from high school on time and ready for college, trade school, military or employment. The member will be an engaged citizen involved in the community, will register to vote and model strong character. They will adopt a healthy diet, practice healthy lifestyle choices and make a lifelong commitment to fitness. The Clubs and programs provide a safe, positive and fun environment with supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations as well as recognition for the youth so that they may meet and exceed organizational and personal goals.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Each day, Club members participate in Power Hour where they have the opportunity to complete their homework under the guidance of staff and volunteers. From there they rotate through programs in the five core areas. We are currently developing and implementing a new program called Destinations to help teens develop a solid plan for their future.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have three Clubhouses with full and part time staff member. Our doors are open after school and all day throughout the summer and during school breaks. 100% of Club members participate in enrichment programming.
Our facilities are state of the art and include the technology, transportation and outdoor space for a positive, engaging and successful Club experience.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Each year we serve approximately 1,500 youth in Indian River County through our after-school and summer programs as well as our facilities. We still maintain a waiting list at the Vero Beach Club. With a recent expansion at our Vero Beach location we will be able to serve an additional 125 children in 2017.
Our goal is to add two key staff positions. The first is an athletic director who would oversee the athletic programs at all three Clubhouses. The second is a guidance counselor who would work on the Destinations program and with teens at all three Clubs as they navigate high school and plan for their future.
