What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

School

The Hope for Haiti School is a Christ-centered primary and secondary school that is equipping the next generation of leaders in Haiti. We currently have over 300 students and consider it an honor to educate and prepare each of these children for their future. Our school provides a unique opportunity to empower young people in Haiti through biblical teaching and academic training.

Many children in rural Haiti suffer from hunger and even one meal a day could save their life. Our feeding program provides 16,000 meals each month to children and families in the Ouanaminthe community.

The advanced education program exists to equip each graduate for the work God has uniquely created them to do. Our program prepares our graduates for their future and allows our students to choose to continue their education through college, university or vocational school.

The special needs home is a loving place where each child is cared for physically, emotionally, and developmentally in order to provide them with the best quality of life. Our nursing staff provides quality care, while ensuring each child has the appropriate medical attention for their unique need and disability. Standing firmly on the foundation that each child is "fearfully and wonderfully made,” our special needs home allows children to thrive when others in their community consider them outcasts.

Our farming and agriculture project provides students with valuable skills and job training. We recently acquired 106-acres of land and our vision is to provide even more opportunities for our community and children to invest and develop Haiti.

The Hope for Haiti Worship Center (Temple de Espoir Haïti) provides a place of love, hope, spiritual growth, and healing. Each week, hundreds of people from Ouanaminthe and neighboring villages gather together to worship and hear from our Haitian pastoral staff.

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

The vision of Danita's Children is to provide education, nutrition, medical and dental care, and Christ-like love to the children and families we serve. We believe that, through our teachers, mentors, and house parents, we are raising children to discover their purpose and to become the future leaders of Haiti.

We're driven by the belief that the hope of Christ can transform a community. We have witnessed the long-lasting effects of investing in a child. These success stories continue to inspire us today as we expand our services to help the entire community and surrounding areas.

Today, Danita's Children provides the opportunity for people to dream about the future, provide steady income for their family, and receive basic needs to live happy and healthy lives. This ministry brings healing through medical care and a feeding program. Futures are made bright through education and discipleship. With the help of our donors and partners, we are bringing lasting change to the people in Haiti.

Danita's Children serves hundreds of children and their families through our various programs by providing: - A Christian education that gives vulnerable children the opportunity to rise out of poverty through our on campus school - Advanced education for our high school graduates - Healthy food through school meals and a community feeding program - Pediatric medical and dental care through the medical center - Hope in Christ through the community church on campus and discipleship program - Children's home for over 80 children, including children with special needs - Employment of over 90+ Haitian staff - Sustainability through farming and agriculture - Sports and life skills Our programs educate and empower vulnerable children and families in Haiti. Lives are restored through the provision of food, shelter, education, medical services, and discipleship. Our goal is to see transformation in Haiti by raising up the next generation of leaders in a Christ-centered environment.

We are able to achieve our goals through the hard work of our staff and board of directors, and the generous support of our donors and partners. Danita's Children has been blessed with an incredible team who is devoted to our mission. With nearly 100 team members in Haiti (mostly Haitians), our staff and missionaries have a shared vision and selflessly pour out their lives for each of our children, both in Haiti and in our stateside office. The Board of Directors advocates tirelessly for our ministry, providing wisdom, accountability, support, as they work with our Founder/CEO to ensure that we effectively bring the hope of Christ to Haiti. Donors from the U.S., Canada, and several other countries around the world partner with us to rescue, love, and care for orphaned and impoverished children in Haiti. Their generosity and advocacy continue to provide the financial support necessary to serve the hurting, neglected, rejected, and needy.

We measure the effectiveness of our programs by the results of the lives changed and the overall impact in the surrounding community. For example, our students regularly pass the national exams, and we have a 100% graduation rate. Additionally, parents of children who have been part of our inpatient and outpatient malnutrition programs are educated and are becoming advocates for other malnourished children in their neighborhoods. Furthermore, our department heads have weekly meetings to discuss program successes and failures, and we prepare monthly program reports that track these outcomes. These are summarized and shared with our board of directors at their semi-annual meetings. We monitor the feeding program involving all the school children in addition to the children staying in our children's homes. We track all patients at the medical center.

In 2019: • 792 medical patients were served through the Mountain Outreach Program including 4 mobile clinics performed & 344 protein supplements distributed. Also 10 emergency patients transported via air ambulance to Danita’s Children hospital. • 75 children cared for in the Children’s Homes • 13 special needs children cared for in the Special Needs Home • 350 students attended Danita’s Children School • 6 students graduated from Danita’s Children High School • At Hope for Haiti Worship Center on the campus hundreds attended weekly church with 30 people accepting Jesus Christ and were baptized • Over 192,000 lbs. of meals served to the children
