What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Engaging the community, residents and visitors alike, in local history is a monumental task, especially for a community that has seen such extensive increases in its population over the last few decades. Preservation (rehabilitation) and interest are easily seen among those who understand the value of local history, but spreading the word, informing, inspiring and involving everyone continues to be a priority.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To preserve Naples history and heritage for the community and future generations to enjoy.

Goals 1. Be the central voice for Naples history. 2. Build/refine relevant initiatives and programs that have long-term value and are sustainable. 3. Provide continued good stewardship of Naples history and the organizational assets. 4. Accomplish this while enhancing the character, growth, and influence of the organization in Naples and in Collier County.

A detailed review of our 10-year plan is available upon request. Please call Elaine Reed at 239-261-8164.

Our endowment was non-existent in 2009 and now it is over $7,000,000. The Naples Historic District Initiative compelled a unanimous vote by Naples City Council (March 2020), which will benefit owners of historic houses; Membership has increased significantly, as have all other program metrics, such as our children's educational program, Pupils at Palm Cottage, which reaches over 2,000 students studying Florida history annually.
