Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies

Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies is a non-profit organization that provides physical, occupational, and speech-language therapies to kids with developmental delays and disabilities in an outpatient setting at one of our two locations: 982 Eastern Parkway in Germantown and 9810 Bluegrass Parkway in Jeffersontown. We serve kids from birth to age 21, regardless of their family's ability to pay. We also offer multidisciplinary clinics to improve coordination of care for patients who attend the clinics.

Kids Center's mission is to involve, in a meaningful way, children with cerebral palsy and other developmental needs and members of their families in the mainstream of society. Our work ensures these kids can assume their rights as equal citizens and receive services as needed to minimize the effects of their disability.

We strive to be the region's most comprehensive and responsive pediatric therapy center. We aim to provide excellent therapy that helps children and their families not only improve their quality of life—but thrive—when faced with developmental delays and disabilities. Our vision is to constantly improve and innovate, providing the most appropriate and current therapeutic interventions regardless of a family's ability to afford the full cost of care.

Our therapists provide skilled, life-changing therapies for children with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities and delays. Through physical, occupational, and speech therapy, we help over 1,400 children annually. Kids of all races and ethnicities from birth to age 21 come to us from 45 counties in Kentucky and 13 counties in Indiana, though most of our clients live in the Metro Louisville area. As the region's only comprehensive pediatric therapy center, the demand for our services is high, with 700 appointments booked each week and more than 100 children waiting for an opening. Our therapy sessions go beyond what is typically expected under the term "therapy." Our highly specialized therapists work with their clients and families in a comprehensive and responsive therapeutic environment. Many therapy centers can provide a limited scope of practice. But Kids Center employs a multidisciplinary approach (including spasticity, orthopedic, and feeding clinics) which is both convenient for the patient and conducive to collaborative problem solving between therapists. In this way, we ensure that all the child's and family's needs are being addressed.

It is only through community support that we can continue to help our kids in the future. Each child with special needs deserves the chance to be a participant in their home, school, and community. By supporting Kids Center, you will be providing these children and their families with the interventions and resources they need to promote optimal independence and participation at whatever level the child's ability supports, thus improving their quality of life and making our community better. To be happy and productive community members in the future, they need to receive the skilled therapies that Kids Center provides now.

Kids Center has served our community since 1958. That sixty years of history and experience enables us to provide outstanding, quality care for our kids. Currently we employ 42 therapists and 100% of them have advanced degrees in their fields. Our Leadership team, Marketing and Development staff, and Board of Directors work with community partners to make up the gap in funding caused by the low insurance reimbursement rates for pediatric therapy.

Accomplishments include merging with another pediatric therapy organization to expand to a second location in 2016, bringing part-time physical therapy services to and constructing an Activities of Daily Living Suite at this new location, and starting a monthly feeding clinic for children with complex feeding disorders in 2017. Our next goals are to expand the physical therapy services at our east campus to full-time and expand feeding clinics to encompass kids or babies that are neurotypical but have issues like torticollis, tongue ties, etc. for a "one-stop shop." We also plan to further develop our new extended programming service offerings.
