89.3 WFPL News Louisville
Louisville’s NPR News Station is the trusted source for independent, fact-based news. We offer 24/7 local, national and international news, culture, and public affairs. As other media outlets narrow their scope and reduce local coverage, we are working to expand the breadth of local news and give voice to multiple perspectives. We know that local news informs, engages, and draws a community together. Take part in the conversation online and on-air. wfpl.org(http://www.wfpl.org/)

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to be the essential community resource for news and culture, filling the void in local journalism and cultural programming; to lead the way in the development of new technologies which keep the public aware, informed, and engaged; to be the primary convener of discussion about the key issues affecting our diverse community.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
89.3 WFPL News Louisville provides local, national and international news, public affairs and cultural programming; 90.5 WUOL Classical Louisville is our city's only classical music and fine arts radio station; 91.9 WFPK Independent Louisville showcases independent, alternative music and an array of musical genres; and the newly established Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting (KyCIR) shines the light of accountability on the people and institutions in power.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The stations sustain more than 200,000 weekly listeners who share a desire for rigorous, independent journalism, long-form coverage of local news and culture, insight into national and international issues, and a breadth of musical exploration.
LPM also serves as a community convener for public affairs, civil discourse, and culture. It presents public panels and free public concerts, and leverages community resources through partnerships and media sponsorships.
The local community provides 91% of the funding for Louisville Public Media: including 31% from area businesses, 59% from membership, and 1% from grants. We receive no city or state support. Federal funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting accounts for 5% of the annual budget.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our total number of listeners continues to grow, from 180,000 a few years ago, to over 200,000 today. We regularly receive awards and continue to expand our staff to serve community needs.
