Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

WAVE Foundation works in partnership with Newport Aquarium, extending the footprint of, and access to, the Aquarium into the Greater Cincinnati area. WAVE has three core areas of focus: education, conservation and volunteerism.
Research reflected in “Why Zoos & Aquariums Matter: a Handbook of Research Key Findings and Results from National Audience Survey” (John Fraser and Jessica Sickler, 2009) show that teachers look to informal science learning centers like aquariums not for new content but for supporting what they are teaching in their classrooms. Furthermore, underserved students are shown to receive the greatest benefit from these opportunities. For example, students from high-poverty schools, as well as minority students, typically show gains that are two to three times larger than those students who do not require free and reduced lunches (Green et al., 2014).

WAVE's 3 core areas of focus are: education, conservation and volunteerism

WAVE Foundation has been working since 1999, and have a great team of professionals dedicated to the mission.

In 2022, WAVE provided environmental education programs for 27,235 children. We have already surpasses this in 2023 with 471 programs for 28,276 children.
