ACTION MINISTRIES INC

Northern Kentucky's Community Food Pantry

Covington, KY   |  www.actionministries.org

Mission

To provide hope, encouragement and groceries to low-income families in northern Kentucky. We are an all volunteer, faith-based, organization. We charge no fees of any kind for our services

Notes from the nonprofit

From its beginning, almost 30 years ago, Action Ministries has been organized and run entirely by volunteers. We are not part of any larger organization. Our funding comes from individual contributions, churches, organizations and various grants from foundations and FEMA (EFSP). We either purchase our groceries or they are donated to us from local retail outlets. We are a member agency of the Cincinnati Freestore/Foodbank (Feeding America) and a participating member of the Northern Kentucky Safety Net Alliance.

Food Distribution to low-income families

In 2022, Action Ministries provided food, paper products, and household goods to 2,098 local families. These families totaled 5,404 individuals with 40% being 18 years old or younger, not including the 200 children served each week in the Food For Thought Program (see below). In addition to items which were specifically purchased by Action Ministries, food and other household products were donated by businesses, schools and individuals. The total pounds distributed was 860,450. In addition to the local families served on a monthly basis, Action Ministries shared extra resources with about 20 different agencies.
