GLENN GARCELON FOUNDATION
Empowering and Supporting Brain Tumor Patients
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The Glenn Garcelon Foundation is being inundated with grant applications from brain tumor patients who are suffering financially due to their diagnosis and had many challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Having to cancel all of our galas, put us in a financial bind. But our participants and donors stepped up and made sure that we would be able to continue to fund grants. In 2020 we issued grants to 97 brain tumor patients. While our donors brought in quite a substantial amount of money, it was not nearly enough to allow us to provide the amount of assistance we would like to be able to do.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Glenn Garcelon Foundation is working diligently to find philanthropic organizations and private donors who believe in our mission and are willing to provide grants or substantial donations. This is an arduous task, but one we need to address in order to continue fulfilling our mission. We are also in the process of starting a sustaining program where donors will sign up to make automatic monthly donations.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Continue submitting grant applications to philanthropic organizations.
2. Set up Sustaining program
3. Continue to hold current fundraisers
4. Add additional fundraisers
5. Enlarge our donor base
6. Cultivate relationships within the communities where we hold our fundraisers.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
As a small, all volunteer organization we must rely on finding individuals who believe in our cause and are willing to donate their time and effort to helping us meet our goals. Word of mouth is a great source for getting our mission out there, and we continue to make people aware of the need of brain tumor patients and encourage them to become involved.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
1. We have received 2 grants from a philanthropic organizations.
2. We have new volunteers on the committees in Oregon and Colorado
4. We have received large donations from 2 families in Texas.
5. We are receiving matching funds from 4 different Donor Advised Funds.
