What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Crisis to Housing Services
Oasis Center's Crisis to Housing Services represent a continuum of programs to assist high-risk youth (i.e. youth who are experiencing homelessness, experiencing family crises, court-involved, etc.) in achieving stability and increasing self-sufficiency. Programs include:1) Oasis Emergency Shelter, which provides crisis intervention, counseling, and family reunification services for runaway and homeless teens ages 13-17; 2) Outreach Program, which provides basic supplies (food, clothing, hygiene products) and case management for homeless young adults ages 18-24; and 3) Rapid Rehousing Program, which provides rental assistance, case management, and wraparound supports for homeless youth ages 18-24.
Counseling Services
At Oasis Center our on-site team of counselors is highly experienced in meeting the needs of youth and families in crisis. Our counselors address a variety of issues including general family issues, educational difficulties, peer pressure, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, homelessness, runaway behavior, teen pregnancy, depression, and suicide ideation. Our services include outpatient individual and family therapy; counseling to youth and families in our Emergency Shelter; counseling to homeless youth in our Outreach Programs; community education; special issue groups; and Juvenile court-based family mediation services. Counseling staff helps our clients address the crisis at hand, create a long-term plan for healing and to identify and develop positive relationships and connections within their own community that can help them avoid further crisis situations.
Youth Action, Advocacy & Education Programs (AAE)
Oasis Center's Youth Action, Advocacy & Education Programs (AAE) is dedicated to empowering young people to be catalysts for positive social change. We offer a continuum of opportunities designed to provide young people with services that prevent problems, advance academic success, encourage community service, and promote college access. Young people, in turn, leverage these supports and opportunities to deepen their awareness of and take action on community issues, becoming advocates and organizers for social change. Each year, AAE programs serve over 2,000 at-risk youth, ages 11-18, across a powerful array of programs like the Bike Workshop, Just Us (LGBTQ support and empowerment), R.E.A.L (juvenile justice diversion), the Mayor's Youth Council, International Teen Outreach Program (community belonging for immigrant/refugee youth), the Oasis Art Studio, and Oasis College Connection.
