What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
SchoolFest
SchoolFest, ASF’s comprehensive student-matinee program, provides 40,000 Alabama students annually with curricular-based, arts education. Last year, students came from 59 of Alabama’s 67 counties. To prepare students and teachers, ASF provides study and video guides online. Each play-specific guide provides a summary of the play and activities to incorporate SchoolFest into a variety of subjects, including English, history and science. After the play, students can ask questions of the cast and crew to learn more about the play and the technical skills necessary to stage a play. SchoolFest prepares students for college and for the work force by improving students’ reading comprehension and communication skills. SchoolFest also promotes personal development by launching discussions on the students’ own life challenges and how they can overcome them.
