What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Wheelchair Ramp and Grab Bar Installation
Wheelchair Ramps and Grab bars are installed to enhance client safety. Skilled teams of
volunteers build wheelchair ramps according to
American Disability Association
specifications to provide
CASA's wheelchair bound clients with access to the outside world, including needed medical
appointments. Once the ramp wood
is cured, it is then painted for traction. Volunteers
install grab bars in order to prevent falls and provide clients
with continued access to various areas of their homes. Grab bars and handrails allow the
client to get in and out of the bathtub or shower, negotiate interior and
exterior stairs.
CASA Community Garden
CASA Community Garden—is maintained
solely by volunteers, and all of the fresh produce is harvested and delivered to our elderly and homebound
clients.
Because the majority of our clients live on fixed incomes, the vegetables from the CASA Garden are their
only source of fresh produce. Because volunteers deliver the vegetables to clients’ homes, CASA clients receive the
benefit of having social contact, and knowing that even though they are
elderly, others in the community still care.
Delivery/Shopping Assistance
Delivery/Shopping Assistance-
volunteers help clients with
grocery shopping for clients who are physically unable to do so. They also deliver essential items from the CASA office clients are unable to pick up themselves, such as vegetables from
the CASA Community Garden, bring CASA holiday gifts, or transport a needed bag
of CASA-provided groceries. Most of CASA's weather assistance items, air conditioners and heaters, need to be delivered as well.
Minor Home Repairs
Minor Home Repairs CASA volunteers perform minor home repairs that clients are unable to complete. These tasks include exterior painting,
yard maintenance, and basic chores like changing light bulbs. The ultimate goal of these services is to improve basic
living conditions for our elderly and homebound clients and keep their homes safe.
Safety Net Health Care Services
Safety Net Health Care Services- The goal of this program is to help clients remain in
their homes by identifying potential safety hazards and educating clients how
to improve their physical well-being. This is provided through home visits, phone calls, and locally-held
workshops.
Durable
medical equipment such as tub transfer benches, bedside commodes, or walkers
may be recommended and provided to clients, which helps maintain their
independence within their own home. Safety Net staff also
coordinates health fairs and conduct workshops during the year at various sites
through the county.
