The United Way of Baldwin County is a network of organizations that brings people together to tackle community issues. Our goal is to create lasting change by addressing the underlying causes to problems in the areas of health, education and financial stability. This is accomplished through a collaborative effort with our community partners and programs designed to address the needs of Baldwin County citizens.

UWBC's Board of Directors work close together to make sure all donated dollars are used in the community to tackle issues of residents in Baldwin County. This is done through an application process from the organizations followed by a face to face interview with a representative from the organization. The board will only approve programs that fit within UWBC's three building blocks: education, health and income stability.

UWBC will continue to support programs that offer assistance to individuals in Baldwin County as long as there is a need. Donors can give through one time donation, payroll deduction, inkind donations and volunteering. Grants are also used to help fund UWBC and our partner agencies.

UWBC requires each partner organization to submit an annual report to show how the programs are making a difference in the lives of individuals in Baldwin County. Students grades are improving, addicts are in recovery, a family is able to keep their home due to rent assistance. These are just a few examples of the success of UWBC and partner organizations.

UWBC has made strides in serving the residents of Baldwin County. However, the need continues. UWBC will continue to work on community issues to help individuals and families.

Organizational Demographics

In order to support nonprofits and gain valuable insight for the sector, GuideStar worked with D5—a five-year initiative to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy—in creating a questionnaire. This section is a voluntary questionnaire that empowers organizations to share information on the demographics of who works in and leads organizations. To protect the identity of individuals, we do not display sexual orientation or disability information for organizations with fewer than 15 staff. Any values displayed in this section are percentages of the total number of individuals in each category (e.g. 20% of all Board members for X organization are female).
