LOVE IN ACTION INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES INC
Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through acts of compassion
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
To share Jesus with a lost and dying world. The world has a sin problem and Jesus is the only cure. We are making disciples (followers of Jesus) and training them how to make disciples so the Gospel will spread. Through sharing the love of Jesus, we are helping to meet the physical needs of the homeless and those living in poverty in our hometown of Dothan, AL. We are helping to bring the homeless off the streets to live a productive life in society. Through our food ministry (hot meals and food pantry) we are serving 12,000 people every month in Dothan. Overseas, we are proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to unreached people groups ... people who have never heard the Gospel. We are also helping to take care of orphans, provide food for hungry children, build schools and provide teachers where children have no hope of an education, building churches, starting home churches, sponsoring indigenous pastors, and providing clean, safe drinking water for people who have no access to it.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Health Clinic for Homeless
Purpose: To provide medical care for the homeless and inmates from Houston County Community Work Release,, and to do so in as skilled and respectful a manner as our limited circumstances and resources allow. Our primary targeted service population will be the homeless.
Love In Action has a free health care clinic for the homeless every Thursday beginning at 4. We treat patients for symptoms such as colds, flu, high blood pressure and diabetes. Volunteers serve dinner to the homeless, and we provide hygiene kits, coats and blankets when it's cold, shoulders to cry on, ears to listen, and prayer.
Bible Study
Conduct Bible study and discipleship classes every Wednesday night at 6:30. It is for the homeless, needy residents from the local community and volunteers
We serve a complete dinner as well.
Food & Hygiene Outreach
We provide non-perishable food and hygiene items to the homeless and very needed in Dothan, Alabama. Many people struggle financially because of lack of jobs, low paying jobs and bad decisions. By helping them with food and hygiene items, this helps stretch the little money they do have to purchase medicines, pay utilities (non-homeless) and other items, such as diapers for their babies.
We also provide showers and laundry service for the homeless. This helps their self esteem, because they really do care about hygiene. And, in order to find work, they need to be clean and presentable when interviewing for jobs.
Hope Through Education
Love In Action is providing education for those who no hope of receiving one. We are calling it "Hope Through Education.”
Love In Action started helping in this area in the Philippines when we first provided school scholarships to year we were blessed to give 60 children the opportunity to go to our church-sponsored schools in different cities in the Philippines. These schools are operated out of churches LIA sponsors. The children receive a quality education and they also learn about Jesus.
Love In Action built our first school in Punta, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines in 2014. It has turned out to be a wonderful blessing as it is now one of the top schools in that area.
We finished our first school in Pakistan in January 2017.
We believe God is leading Love In Action to build many more schools in the Philippines, Haiti and Pakistan. Why? The obvious reason is education. We believe a quality education is one of the main keys to overcoming poverty. Study after study proves this to be true.
Another reason for building schools is they can double for churches. Many of the areas we are in, it can be dangerous to build a church because of Islamist extremists. Constructing a school building would be safer than telling these communities we are building a church.
These schools will also be safe havens for children who often find themselves in bad situations at home. The schools will also be places where they will receive at least one good meal a day, which is one more than most receive now.
Each school will have fresh water and restrooms. In places like Pakistan, it can be extremely dangerous for children to go to the restroom, because most homes don’t have them. With the threat of human trafficking, children are easy prey for predators when they are walking out in the fields to find a place to go to the restroom. There are also dangerous animals in most areas.
Most of these schools can be constructed for US$10,000. That’s not a lot of money to provide education, church, food, fresh water and restrooms for these precious children.
Please help us. Send you tax deductible donations to: Love In Action International Ministries, P.O. Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302. Please write in the memo of your check, "Hope Through Education.”
The children are waiting for us. Will we respond?

What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
In Dothan, Alabama, we work with volunteers from churches throughout the region to provide the help necessary to help the homeless and needy. Local businesses work with us as well. We also work with other local non-profits to help solve homelessness in Dothan, Alabama. We have a mobile food ministry where we take hot meals and groceries into the impoverished communities and to the homeless. We also have a food pantry and soup kitchen on our campus.
In Third World/Developing nations, we work with indigenous pastors who best understand the culture, the needs and how to meet those needs. We make the needs known here in the U.S. and ask for help.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Love In Action is known throughout the U.S. and in six countries. God has woven together a great group of volunteers and financial supporters.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have helped many homeless people come off the streets.
We have started building schools in Philippines and Pakistan. We also sponsor children's scholarships to attend school in the Philippines.
We have built and started more than 100 churches/home churches in Philippines. We sponsor a small Christian college and two churches in Myanmar.
We have provided fresh water in India and helping to do the same in Haiti.
We plan to meet more needs of children who are malnourished in the areas around the world where we work with indigenous pastors. We plan to provide more fresh water for the people in those third world areas.
In home, we plan to expand our food ministry.
