What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Foster Program
This is a brief overview of our program. The foster program was implemented to help provide temporary shelter for an adoptable animal when the shelter is at maximum capacity or for underage pets not old enough for adoption or pets needing tender loving care, socialization and/or obedience training.
Volunteer & Jr. Ambassador Programs
AS A VOLUNTEER (Jr. Ambassador- volunteers under 16 years of age) YOU WILL BENEFIT FROM FULFILLMENT, PERSONAL GROWTH, SATISFACTION AND EXPANDED SKILLS.
ARC- a for-impact volunteer organization and sanctuary-provides a clean, safe, no-kill environment for cats and dogs within the Lee County area.
Volunteering at an animal sanctuary can be a challenging and rewarding experience. Each person is an integral piece of overall success in our mission to shelter dogs and cats until we are able to find them forever homes. We are also here to educate the public about humane treatment of companion animals and the importance of spaying and neutering.
ARC Membership Program
Getting involved is a rewarding experience and sure to bring joy into your life. ARC depends on its members! Become a member of the Animal Refuge Center and you’ll receive:
Our newsletter
Voting rights at our two general membership meetings.
Your name engraved on a recognition wall plaque displayed at ARC (Krieger Leadership Society Members Only)
Krieger Leadership Society recognition tag (Krieger Leadership Society Members Only)
Each membership renews annually.
Adoption Program
ARC is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 11 AM until 4 PM, for tours and adoptions. If you see a cat or dog that you like, you may contact us and an ARC representative will discuss the animal in further detail. Or you may call (239) 731-3535 between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM for more information.
Please Note: The adoption process is NOT first come, first served. If there is interest from more than one party in a particular resident, we will take into account all aspects of the applicants' applications, and choose the BEST HOME for our resident. Our primary goal is to find the BEST homes for our animals.
In order to be considered as an adopter, you must:
Be 21 years old or older;
Have a current photo ID showing age and current address;
Be willing and able to provide training, medical care and loving attention for a pet; and
Pay adoption fees.
