CienciaPR's Science Education Program has a variety of formal and informal education initiatives in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) that seek to contribute to the transformation of scientific education in Puerto Rico. The initiatives foster collaborations between scientists and educators to impact K-12 students and their communities through accessible and culturally relevant workshops, lessons, talks, webinars and other educational materials.

CienciaPR's Communications and Public Engagement with Science features initiatives that increase awareness about the work and role of scientists and science in Puerto Rican society and culture; train science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) experts and students to effectively communicate science; promote meaningful interactions and opportunities for mutual learning between the scientific community and different publics; and build the capacity and agency of marginalized communities to leverage science. These initiatives include collaborations with local and national media, workshops, opportunities to publish articles, blogs and op-eds, and community engagement programs.

At CienciaPR we seek to promote the growth of scientific research in Puerto Rico, transform science education to empower people with critical thinking, give our communities access to scientific knowledge and information, and serve as a tool for training the next generation of Puerto Rican scientists. Through our educational initiatives and programs we provide students with effective science education resources, experiences and role models; provide students and professionals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with career development and training in science communication and outreach as well as platforms to put those skills into practice; and lead campaigns to engage our communities with science. Education in STEM provides access to well-paying careers that offer solutions to societal problems and opportunities for social mobility. Our programs ensure that everyone in Puerto Rico, especially historically marginalized communities, have access to the benefits of science.
