Mission

Accelerating government mission outcomes through collaboration, leadership and education. ACT-IAC is a public-private partnership established to improve government's mission performance through the strategic application of technology. ACT-IAC provides an objective, vendor-neutral and ethical forum where government and industry executives can communicate, collaborate and learn as equal partners. ACT-IAC does not lobby or accept government funding. Leadership is provided by an executive committee of senior government executives who establish ACT-IAC's strategic direction. An executive committee of industry executives provides advice and oversees the operation and management of the organization.

ACT-IAC was founded on the fundamental principle that a more diverse set of views, experience and opinions enhances the mission of government and strengthens us as a nation American Council for Technology (ACT) was established in 1979 by government employees, with the encouragement of OMB and GSA, to provide a forum where Federal, state and local government employees could communicate and collaborate. In 1989 ACT created the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) to provide an objective, ethical and vendor-neutral forum where government executives could communicate and collaborate with their industry peers.

Strategic Collaboration

ACT-IAC provides objective and trusted for a where government and industry can collaborate to address major issues of mutual interest, develop best practices and shape innovative new strategies to improve government. This collaboration takes place through the organization's Communities of Interest, Institute for Innovation and special projects.

The Communities of Interest consist of the following topics - Acquisition; Customer Experience; Cybersecurity; Emerging Technology; Evolving the Workforce; Health; IT Management and Modernization; and Networks and Telecommunications.

The Institute for Innovation focuses on providing an objective and non-partisan forum for strategic thought leadership to advance government missions through the innovative application and management of information technology.

ACT-IAC sponsors numerous events annually where government and industry executives learn from experts and from each other. Major events include ACT-IAC's two annual conferences - Imagine Nation ELC, and Emerging Technology and Innovation. There are also numerous virtual and in-person events throughout the year including, but not limited to, forums, federal insight exchanges, webinars, and summits.

All events provide opportunities to stay up-to-date on the latest trends, policies, and technologies. The goal is to craft innovative solutions and strategies through collaboration that spans organizational and functional lines.

ACT-IAC also hosts a Small Business Alliance which provides activities, engagement and networks exclusively tailored to meet the needs of small businesses.

ACT-IAC has various of programs to create a more knowledgeable and expert workforce in the government and serving government. The Partners, Voyagers, and Associates programs are considered among the best in the community due to their unique approach to partnering government and industry executives.

Graduates of the Partners and Voyagers programs become members of the ACT-IAC Fellows, an alumni association, which participates in professional and social events.

Graduates of the Associates program become members of gAp, an alumni association which provides a space for these individuals to network and collaborate amongst each other within the ACT-IAC sphere as they continue to grow and advance in their careers.

ACT-IAC's Growth in Leadership for Women (GLOW) is a four-month program that provides the opportunity for women in government IT to grow their leadership skills, network with a diverse array of peers, share unique experiences, and help one another succeed.
