Mission

Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Every 34 minutes Make-A-Wish® grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a critical illness in the United States and its territories. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us in everything we do. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.

Wish Granting

Make-A-Wish®Northeastern & Central California & Northern Nevada was founded in 1983 and has granted more than 7,350 wishes to children in our community. With the help of generous donors, community supporters, and dedicated volunteers, our chapter is on track to grant more than 400 wishes this year. While the organization follows the policies and guidelines of Make-A-Wish® America, it operates as a separate 501(c)(3) organization. All funds raised by our chapter are used to fulfill our mission in the 45 Northeastern & Central California and Northern Nevada counties we serve (see map for details).

In 2009, with the help of the communities it serves, Make-A-Wish opened The Wishing Place, a child-friendly and inviting place where children with critical illnesses are encouraged to dream big and wishes come true. While the Wishing Place, located in Sacramento, is the chapter headquarters, there are two regional offices located in Fresno, CA and Reno, NV.
