What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
English Language Development
The Healdsburg Education Foundation raises funds for Instructional Coaches in the Healdsburg Unified School District to train teachers in a specific English language acquisition methodology. This methodology is breaks down the building blocks of language into understandable, manageable parts with an emphasis on personalized instruction. Due to the success of this methodology, English Language Learners in HUSD schools have continued to be reclassified as English Fluent Proficient at average rates that are double that of their county and state peers.
K-5 Enrichment
Enrichment classes enhance a student's educational experience by providing them with the opportunities to explore what they enjoy and develop their creativity, perseverance and problem-solving skills. This program provides funding for enrichment instruction on both of HUSD's elementary school sites. Classes include: art, music/band, robotics, chess gardening/nutrition, cartooning, young author's workshops, yoga, fitness, and science exploration.
K-5 Field Trips
The Healdsburg Education Foundation supplements field trip costs for K-5 students whose families fall at or below the poverty line and cannot afford to pay for field trips. HEF and HUSD believe strongly that all children should benefit from learning outside of the classroom and expanding their world views and experiences, regardless of their ability to pay.
Junior Academic Internship Program
This program places every single Junior in an internship of their choice for 3 weeks, where they are mentored in a career they may wish to pursue. Students complete the internship with a presentation to the community recapping their experience and the lessons learned. HEF pays the partial salary of the Work Based Learning Coordinator, who organizes and runs the program.
Mental Health Counseling at Healdsburg High School
This critical resource provides individual and group counseling, school wide presentations of everything from stress to drug prevention, provides referrals to outside help when needed, and acts as a safe zone where students can come to discuss problems, facilitate conversations and create socio-emotional wellness groups with their peers.
