What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Workforce development & Career Pathways
One of the ongoing goals within the CCC is to develop career pathways for corpsmembers to better enable their successful transition to higher education and the workforce. CCC Career Pathways consists of project work, education and training in specific career paths leading to related occupational options.
CCC Veterans initiative
In Partnership with Veterans Green Jobs, we engage recently returned veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan in a CCC program that provides veterans a transition from military service to a civilian life and workforce. Cohorts of 10 – 15 veterans are recruited and placed on crews under the supervision of an experienced Crew Leader and supported by a Veterans Advocate.
Education & Scholarships
All corpsmembers are required to advance their education during their years of service in the CCC. Many complete the requirements for a GED or high school diploma. Others earn scholarships for additional technical training and college. Curricula draws from work experiences and teachers combine classroom and field instruction to enhance education, life-skills and job preparation.
Emergency Response
The CCC is part of the State Emergency Management System and responds to fires, floods, mudslides, oil spills, earthquakes and agricultural pest infestations. About one in every five CCC work hours is in response to disasters.
Pathways2CCC
The Pathways program teaches foster youth wilderness skills and introduces them to the CCC as a career option.
Women in the Wilderness (WiW)
Women in the Wilderness takes women of color, 18-24, on an immersive week-long hiking trip in the backcountry. All participants are trained in wilderness skills and provided with all of the necessary equipment to live in the wilderness for a week.
