Open Cockpit weekends at the Pacific Coast Air Museum are a great activity for kids and family. We raise the canopies and open the doors to give you an unobstructed view so you can see what a genuine fighter plane, attack plane, transport, helicopter, or other type is like from the inside!

Some of our docents actually flew the same kinds of planes you'll be looking at. They'll be happy to tell you all about it.

We have Open Cockpit weekends once a month except January (because of the weather) and September when we have our Air Show.

PCAM is an exhibitor at this fun kid-friendly science event! North Bay Science Discovery Day's mission is to stimulate the excitement of learning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in North Bay youth during their most formative years, and to use exciting hands-on activities with some of the seemingly ordinary things that surround us but hold the secret of scientific understanding and success in modern life. PCAM provides an unparalleled opportunity for kids who love planes to hear the real story from real pilots. Lots of kids who never thought twice about flying come away from our exhibit with a new interest and desire to learn more!

Hot Dog Thursday is a fun family event that takes place on the field among the airplanes and helicopters of the Pacific Coast Air Museum. We serve hot dogs, drinks, and chips to visitors from around Sonoma county, including many from businesses near the airport where our Museum is located.
The cost is $5.00. This gets you into the Museum and pays for your lunch. When chili is available, add a scoop to your ‘dog for free and make it a chili dog!
These events are the first Thursday of the month during the warm parts of the year, from April through October.
Come on out and have a special lunch. And what a great setting, among our aircraft!

Monthly Member Meeting at the Pacific Coast Air Museum are fun. They're open to the public, and we welcome anyone who wants to learn more about PCAM, meet our key members and volunteers, or maybe they're just interested in our guest speaker.

They take place the third Wednesday evening of each month at Columbia Distributing, 3200 N. Laughlin Road, Santa Rosa, California, 95403.

The Flight Wing of the Pacific Coast Air Museum dedicated to restoring and flying classic aircraft. We have actual flying museum aircraft.

The Flight Wing got its start near the end of 2013, with a number of donations of aircraft and funds. The Flight Wing has several aircraft in various stages of restoration. Some are flyable and others need a couple years of work first. The driving vision behind the Flight Wing is that aircraft are supposed to fly, so let’s get them flying.

All work is done under the supervision and/or inspection of mechanics licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) according to FAA rules. All aircraft are inspected and held to the same rigorous standards as any other aircraft legally flying in the United States.

Have you ever dreamed of flying an F-15 Eagle? How about a P-51 Mustang or a Sopwith Camel?

The Pacific Coast Air Museum can provide the next best thing. Our flight simulator lets you get into the cockpit, take the controls, and fly a 3D virtual reality simulation of these and other planes.

Advanced pilots can even fly dogfights against simulated enemies or hook up with an aerial tanker. Let our friendly attendants know what you want and they’ll load the correct scenario.

This is not a video game. This is an actual flight simulator with sound and vibrational feedback that mimics the actual flight characteristics of each plane. So when you fly the P-51, it will behave like a P-51. When you fly the F-15, it will behave like an F-15.

A large part of the mission of the Pacific Coast Air Museum is to Educate and Inspire both young and old about our aviation heritage and space technology. It is our duty and privilege to provide learning opportunities, education, and classes that open young minds to the possibilities of air and space transportation. The improvement of our nation depends largely upon the mechanical and analytical talents our children develop as they grow into mature and responsible adults, and we're helping promote that.

Plus, these classes are great things for kids and young adults to do, whether they need summer activities or just an awesome experience to brag about. Our Education Programs include:
STEM
Boy Scout Merit Badge
Aviation Summer School
Aviation History
The Principles of Flight

Please contact the museum for additional information about our Educational Programs.

The Oral History Program of the Pacific Coast Air Museum exists to create permanent records of Veterans’ stories. The program got its start with support from then-Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey’s office. With their help, the PCAM Oral History Program was born, and we worked cooperatively with Woolsey’s office to help with transcribing and sending the interviews to the Library of Congress.

Since its inception in 2010 the Oral History Program has recorded on digital video approximately 350 interviews with Veterans from World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Gulf War. We have also interviewed civilians who have had significant experiences with the U.S. military, wars, and general aviation.

A few of the interviews we've conducted are:
WWII: A P-47 pilot who got shot down over Germany on Valentine’s Day 1945
WWII: An 82nd Airborne paratrooper who jumped into Normandy the night before our forces hit the beaches
Vietnam: An F-4 Phantom pilot who flew 3,000 hours and dozens of missions
WWII: A woman who, as a little girl, was interned by the Japanese in the Philippines along with hundreds of other Americans.
Vietnam: A ground-control radar specialist who helped guide our planes to and from their targets.

Please view our website at www.pacificcoastairmuseum.org for additional information on the Oral History Program
